Cllrs Charlotte Gerada and Asghar Shah attended a council meeting where they had the chance to share feedback from residents and businesses about crime and anti-social behaviour issues to the police.
They raised:
Concerns from some businesses about a poor police response when vandalism and crime takes place Concerns about the rise in racial hate crime and the impact this is having on residents feeling safe Concerns about public disorder caused by groups of thugs and hooligans, who are preventing residents from being able to meet safely Frustrations from residents about the lack of communication from the police in relation to ongoing cases Gratitude for the return to neighbourhood policing, with named, contactable officers in every communityThey also asked for increased communications, updates from the police on social media when arrests are made and a more robust response from the police in challenging public disorder by hooligans, when it occurs.
