On 4 July, the country voted for the first Labour Government in  14 years, with the biggest majority since 1997. For the first time ever, Portsmouth also returned two Labour MPs, meaning there are now two tireless champions for our city in Westminster.

The election was a historic moment for our city and country. And we have wasted no time using it to deliver the change we promised. Already the Labour Government has made huge strides to end the strikes, tackle the sewage scandal impacting Portsmouth waters and recruit the teachers our schools desperately need. We have also scrapped the unethical, costly Rwanda deportation scheme, taken concrete action to tackle the climate crisis, called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and restored funding to the UNRWA to deliver vital aid to
Gaza.

These are just a few examples of the difference a Labour Government makes.
