A number of you and local businesses have been in touch with us and city MP Stephen Morgan about the city council’s roll out of the new parking arrangements in our community. We are following up on the specific issues being raised with us so far.

Charlotte Gerada Central Southsea campaigner said;

‘We’ve been out on the doorstep and listening to concerns, it’s clear that whilst for some they welcome the scheme but for others it’s just not working. I’m looking forward to hearing from residents both in the new zones about their experiences so far and those living outside of the new zones’.

As you know, Portsmouth Labour think that a piecemeal approach to the parking problems our city faces just doesn’t work. What we need is a city-wide plan to tackle the issue head on, avoid displacement of vehicles as well as invest in public transport and make it safer and easier to walk and cycle around our city.

The Liberal Democrats who introduced this scheme consulted some residents before its roll out. We are now keen to hear all views about how it is being implemented. We are hosting a public meeting at The Wedgwood Rooms on Saturday 2 Feb from 1.00 – 2.30 pm to hear how living with the new zones has been in the first month. If you can make the meeting let us know here.

If you can’t make the meeting drop us an email at hello@portsmouthlabourparty.org.uk if you have ideas, issues or concerns about the parking scheme.
