Our city is fizzing with potential – with talented people and beautiful natural assets, like our coastline. But it’s also being held back. For almost 20 years, the Liberal Democrats have failed to regenerate our city centre, allowing it to go to wreck and ruin.

Labour councillors and Stephen Morgan MP have been doing all they can to secure more investment for Portsmouth and for important community events, like Pride Portsmouth. This is to make our city a nicer place to live, to strengthen our local economy and bring our diverse communities together. We pledge to:

  • Prioritise making our streets cleaner and safer, with street cleans taking place the same day as refuse collection and smaller bins offered to flat-fronted properties
  • Support residents and businesses to regenerate high streets, create places we want to visit with things we want to do and reform business rates to bring down costs
  • Empower and support communities to lease empty shops and buildings for use for by and for the community
  • Use empty shops for pop up galleries, to make better use of the artworks and artefacts held by the Museum Service and celebrate local artists and creatives
  • Invest in more CCTV to tackle litter, graffiti, anti-social behaviour, dog fouling and fly-tipping
