The cost of living crisis is making families’ lives even harder in our city, so Labour councillors, candidates and Stephen Morgan MP are doing all they can to increase support both locally and nationally.

We pledge to:

  • Provide support during the cost of living crisis, including a hardship fund for those most in need
  • Increase opportunities for young people in our neighbourhoods, including after school and during the holidays
  • Offer cheaper bus passes for young people and families all year round
  • Improve affordable access to swimming and leisure facilities for families, ensure the Eastney Swimming pool site remains in public ownership and becomes a lido
  • Drive up standards in schools to enhance educational outcomes, with a strong focus on improving early years and Special Education Needs and Disabilities provision
  • Roll-out free breakfast clubs and Mental Health professionals in every school to improve pupil behaviour, attendance and mental health of students
  • Focus on recruitment and retention of teaching assistants and teachers from schools to colleges
