Tom works as a Healthcare Support Worker on the Stroke Unit at QA Hospital, a job he loves because it is so rewarding.

Tom was first elected in May 2018 and re-elected in May 2022. Tom is Labour’s Spokesperson for Children, Families & Education, ensuring Portsmouth City Council upholds high standards in its services for children and young people, including schools. Tom is keen to ensure that the council’s local services help secure the best life opportunities for the city’s young people.

Tom says, ‘As a parent with neuro-diverse children I’m passionate about improving SEND services’.

Tom is a veteran and is deputy Armed Forces Liaison Champion at the council. He is chair of the Fratton Community Centre and an active member of St Mary’s Church.

He volunteers to raise money for charity to ensure local families get the support they need to thrive. He is particularly proud that he was able to raise £40,000 for local causes when he was Lord Mayor of Portsmouth.

Tom holds several roles on external bodies, including for the Education Advisory Board, Fratton Big Local, Mary Rose Trust and is the Deputy Armed Forces Liaison Champion.

Outside of formal councillor roles, Tom is the Chair of Fratton Community Association and an active member of Unite the Union.
