Yinka says “I see our neighbourhood every day and understand the issues that matter to you because, like you, it’s my home. I’ve worked hard to be a strong, active voice for our community alongside our MP Stephen Morgan. We’re staying visible, accessible and focused on delivering real results on the issues you raise.”
Yinka sees first-hand how local decisions shape people’s lives, from housing and public services to commuity safety and opportunities for young people. That’s why she works closely with local residents, businesses and community groups to get things done.
Yinka Adeniran was originally from Nigeria and moved with her children to UK in November 2009. She was elected as first female African as a Labour councillor for Charles Dickens ward in May 2022. She is passionate about helping people in our city achieve better living conditions.
She is a registered Social Worker and Chief Executive and Registered Manager of a care agency providing staff to support people in care homes and individuals in their own homes. Yinka is a longstanding activist in Buckland and a founder of Family Forum, a vibrant community based in Portsmouth, dedicated to empowering and supporting families. She is a school governor at St George’s Beneficial Primary School, Portsea. Last year she was joint deputy Lady Mayoress.
“Our area is a vibrant one, but we face real challanges, from litter to anti-social behaviour and parking. If you re-elect me in May i’ll continue taking action on the things that matter to you. Representing Charles Dickens ward is a privilege and I want to build on
the progress I’ve made since elected in 2022 to make the area a cleaner, safer, and fairer place for everyone’.
Apart from politics, Yinka loves travelling and exploring new places and cultures. She enjoys cooking and listening to gospel music – it’s her favourite way to relax and unwind.
