Cllr Graham Heaney is a Labour Councillor for St Jude Ward in Portsmouth and was elected in May 2019. Graham is Labour’s Spokesperson for Traffic and Transportation and leads on ensuring Portsmouth City Council responds adequately to the issues of traffic and road safety, does all it can to reduce congestion and maintains high standards for all forms of transportation across the city. Graham is a Vice-Chair of the Scrutiny Management Panel, a member of the Health Overview & Scrutiny Panel and Housing & Social Care Scrutiny Panel. Graham is the Treasurer for the Labour Group and is responsible for overseeing the finances for Portsmouth Labour Councillors. 

 

Graham has a number of external appointments, such as for the Langstone Harbour Board, the Farlington Marshes Management Committee and the Transport Liaison Group.

 

Outside of formal council roles, Graham is a lecturer at Portsmouth University in politics and public policy in the School of Area Studies, History, Politics and Literature and has research interests in the history and politics of the Labour Party. Graham is a member of the University and Colleges Union and serves on the executive committee of the local branch in Portsmouth.

 

Graham runs a monthly ward surgery on the first Saturday of every month from 10am to 12 noon at Southsea Library.
