Cllr Cal Corkery is a Labour Councillor for Charles Dickens ward in Portsmouth and was elected in May 2019. Cal is Deputy Leader of the Labour Group, responsible for guiding the strategy of Portsmouth Labour Councillors, along with Cllr George Fielding. Cal is the Labour Spokesperson for Housing and Preventing Homelessness and is responsible for ensuring Portsmouth City Council does all it can to tackle homelessness, provide affordable housing and build developments that meet the needs of local people. Cal is an Employment Committee member, where he scrutinises the council’s employment practices, including ensuring the council works towards paying the real Living Wage for all its employees. Cal is also chair of the Housing and Social Care Scrutiny Panel and is a member of the Shareholders Subcommittee.

Cal has several roles on external bodies, including for the Joint Pension Fund Panel and Board, PATCH Limited and Portsmouth and District Friendly Society Homes.

Outside of formal council roles, Cal is studying for his Masters at Sussex University, is a local organiser for UNISON and is an active member of Unite the Union. 

Cal runs a monthly ward surgery on the first Wednesday of every month (excluding August) from 6pm to 7.30pm at Landport Community Centre, Charles Street, Landport, Portsmouth, PO1 1JD.
