Cllr Kirsty Mellor is a Labour Councillor for Charles Dickens ward in Portsmouth and was elected in May 2021. Kirsty is Labour’s Spokesperson for Community Safety & Environment and is responsible for ensuring Portsmouth City Council does all it can to make Portsmouth a safe city for all residents, tackles the issue of violence against women and girls and implements robust environmental policies. Kirsty is also Labour’s Spokesperson for Health, Wellbeing & Social Care and leads on scrutinising the council’s health and social care services. Kirsty is Labour’s representative on the Health and Wellbeing Board and has an appointment to the Police and Crime Panel.
Outside of formal councillor roles, Kirsty is an active campaigner around ending violence to women and girls, ending the cuts to Universal Credit and is an active member of Unite Community.
Kirsty runs a monthly ward surgery every third Saturday of the month (excluding August) from 10am to 12 noon at Ground Floor, John Pounds Centre, 23 Queen Street, Portsmouth, PO1 3HN.
