Cllr Tom Coles is a Labour Councillor for Fratton ward in Portsmouth and was elected in May 2018 and re-elected in May 2022. Tom is the Deputy Lord Mayor of Portsmouth for 2022-23 and is also Labour’s Spokesperson for Children, Families & Education, ensuring Portsmouth City Council upholds high standards in its services for children and young people, including schools. Tom is a member of the Licensing Committee, the Twinning Advisory Group and the Education, Children & Young People Scrutiny Panel, which scrutinises the council’s local services and approach to securing the best life opportunities for the city’s young people. 

 

Tom holds several roles on external bodies, including for the Education Advisory Board, Fratton Big Local, Mary Rose Trust and is the Deputy Armed Forces Liaison Champion.

 

Outside of formal councillor roles, Tom is a Healthcare Support Worker on the Stroke Unit at QA, the Chair of Fratton Community Association and is an active member of Unite the Union.
