Cllr Tom Coles is a Labour Councillor for Fratton ward in Portsmouth and was elected in May 2018. Tom is Labour’s Spokesperson for Culture, Leisure and Economic Development and ensures Portsmouth City Council upholds high standards in its culture and leisure offer across the city, invests in the future of the city’s assets and develops successful approaches for the local economy. Tom is a member of the Licensing Committee, the Twinning Advisory Group and the Education, Children & Young People Scrutiny Panel, which scrutinises the council’s local services and approach to securing the best life opportunities for the city’s young people.
Tom holds several roles on external bodies, including for the Education Advisory Board, Fratton Big Local, Haifa/ Portsmouth Friendship Committee and the Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education.
Outside of formal councillor roles, Tom is a Healthcare Support Worker, is the Chair of Fratton Community Centre and is an active member of Unite the Union.
