David was born and brought up in Portsmouth.
‘This city that has given me so much: a great education, opportunities and a place where I belong and can call home’.
The environment is a priority for David because every area of Portsmouth exceeds the World Health Organisation’s recommended safe levels of air pollution. Pollution of our sea and beaches is also one of Davids’s major concerns locally as well as opposition to the AQUIND interconnector to prevent environmental and economic damage.
As a teacher for over 15 years, including experience overseas, David understands the importance of helping young people feel they belong, have purpose, and are supported to be ambitious. When young people thrive, our city thrives. That also means creating cleaner, safer environments with better air quality and improving recycling, so Portsmouth becomes greener and healthier.
But this is not just about the young – it’s about supporting working families with affordable childcare and ensuring older residents feel valued and continue to play a vital role in our community.
David is a keen pickleball player. He loves listening and playing music, and likes to run including taking part in the Southsea Park Run. He has a passion for learning languages.
