Tom loves engaging with his local community and exploring how politics impacts peoples’ lives and how he can help make his area cleaner, greener and safer. He lives in the Castle Road area which has seen recent development as a unique pedestrianised mini-shopping centre, thanks to funding from the Labour government.
Encompassing the areas of Old Portsmouth, Castle Road, East St.Thomas and parts of Somerstown, St Thomas ward is home to some of the best spots for culture and art in the city including the Hot Walls, Art Space and Aspex. Tom is keen to support these projects.
Tom is also a keen runner and cyclist. His running club has grown to over 500 members in the last three years. He is proud to have helped develop running in the city and create a friendly and welcoming community that all can enjoy. His ambition is to come first in the Southsea Parkrun!
As a cyclist, Tom is keen to develop cycling in the city.
“Out cycling in Portsmouth can feel very unsafe at times. I’d like to see more priority given to cyclists and pedestrians as part of a wider transport strategy for the city”
