Portsmouth has been home to Arif, his wife and three boys for 20 years. Arif lives in Milton and is an active community volunteer and is involved in a variety of community initiatives across Portsmouth including food deliveries to families in need. He is a community leader of Portsmouth’s Bangladeshi Society where he helps organise fundraising events and community activities.

Arif says, “New developments in the area risk traffic chaos and Milton is already vulnerable to air pollution from traffic hotspots.  We need to come up with solutions that avoid making this situation worse’. Arif supports the campaign to stop Aquind co-founded by fellow Labour campaigner Paula Savage.

With an MBA from Portsmouth University, Arif is Managing Director of a Portsmouth based student consultancy company and an official agent for many UK universities. He is an expert in the recruitment of international students and his company provides counselling services to support those who intend to study in the UK.

Arif explains why he wants to be elected, “Councillors are responsible for a whole range of vital services for residents and businesses. I have the energy, passion and commitment to play my part delivering these to the community.” Arif plans to make a real difference to the community and represent the views of people in Milton so they get the services and support needed.
